This self-paced online course from the National Library of Medicine® (NLM) will help you gain the skills needed to use Community Health Maps to:

  • Empower Communities-Learn how Community Health Maps can help communities and individual collect and map health-related data
  • Collect Health Data-Build a plan to collect data, create the forms to capture data points, and use your mobile device to collect the data
  • Visualize your health data by creating online and printable maps that can be customized to meet the needs of your audience and stakeholders

Learning Outcomes

The goal of the course is to help users gain the skills to use Community Health Maps in order to empower communities, collect health data, and create maps.

Users will be able to:

  1. Describe ways Community Health Maps can empower communities and individuals to collect and map health data
  2. Create a basic workflow for collecting and mapping field data
  3. Develop a data collection form
  4. Collect field data according to your data collection plan
  5. Create and format online, shareable maps of field data
  6. Create and format offline, publishable maps of field data using desktop software
