In this face-to-face class, students will be able to: Describe the role of the voice in public speaking (mechanics): volume, tone, timbre, breath Describe the care of the voice in public speaking Describe the use of the body in public speaking (mechanics): how to appear relaxed, appropriate posture, use of gestures Overcome anxiety: tips for overcoming anxiety in public speaking Describe the fundamentals of good public speaking Will be able to craft a good presentation Will be able to do a demonstration effectively Will be able to do a presentation with PowerPoint effectively Will be able to do an elevator speech effectively

Learning Objectives

  • Students will be able to calm the anxiety they feel prior to speaking comfortable
  • Students will be able to craft effective presentations (demonstration, elevator pitch)
  • Students will be able to use PowerPoint effectively in presentations
  • Students will be able to state the three fundamentals of good public speaking
  • Students will know what to do with their hands when they are in front of a group.
