Geeks Bearing Gifts: Unwrapping New Technology Trends is intended to provide a fun, fast-paced, and informative introduction to and update on emerging technologies and trends. Participants will be be able to identify and analyze emerging technologies and its impact within your institution. Content will focus on the use of emerging technology in education, outreach, and medicine. Course structure will include demonstrations, videos, and discussions on a wide variety of technologies.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify emerging technologies that influence business, education, medicine, and libraries.

  • Analyze emerging technologies and predict benefits of tool utilization.

  • Discuss ways in which new technologies can be utilized to support education, outreach, and medicine.

  • Identify 3 issues associated with creation of and adaptation of new technologies.

Facility Requirements 
Participants need only to have access to a computer with Internet capability. If offered on-site, facility must be in a computer lab with internet connectivity and a computer connected to a projector.
