Unit 5, Project Management and Assessment

In this unit you will learn about how a traditional project plan can aid you in your development of a research data management service. You’ll hear about some of the more common elements of a project plan and begin the process of creating your own. You'll also learn how to use the appropriate assessment techniques to evaluate your program objectives. In Project Management 101, you’ll learn some basic principles of project management.

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Explain why project planning is useful.
  • Outline the key elements of every project plan.
  • Identify three areas of assessment: Process Evaluation, Outcomes, and Impact/Value.
